Most important. RETURN CALLS!!! After I sold the dealership I had probably a dozen guys complain to me about them not getting back to them as promised. Be 100% HONEST. Know your customers. Some guys are offended if you don't call on them while some don't want to see you unless they contact you. Get a list of everyones major equipment when possible to refer to. You have a customer looking for a nice 4440 and you refer to your list and Joe Doe has just what he's looking for. You'll be surprised how often you can move Joe up and make two sales. Check every piece of equipment you sell over before delivery. We sold a new field cultivator to a very good customer and seems a though one row of shanks on the main framer didn't get tighten up. He lost 4 on the first round. It's a lot easier to send it out right than to send two guys out to find them and get chewed on all the while they are making it right. Last but not least, go the extra mile to get a customer parts after hours.
