No sale no matter that was what it was worth today. I bet alot of real serious bidders didnt attend because they thought it would be out of their
range.

Yup. That was the nut that day, sale or no sale. Anytime I’ve gone to a sale barn, last I knew, the bidders always established the price. The seller can fuss and stew and be pissed at the buyers all he wants for not bidding higher, but that was the value at that moment in time. It was also online, so it was available for the whole country to bid. There’s been several land sales in the last ten years I’ve bid on from the comfort of my office, when I could have driven just a few short miles and bid in person. In this case, it was my understanding when the bidding stalled, the auctioneer took a break and met with the sellers, which is common here, and came back and announced the farm will be sold today to the highest bidder. So as German Shepard alluded too, “How do you know it wasn’t a shill bidder to run up the price”, I don’t know that for certain, I wasn’t there, second hand pretty reliable information, and even if I was, wouldn’t have known if it was bid in by a shill bidder. What I am certain of though, if that indeed was the case, the seller would have owed the auctioneer his commission, unless such a scheme was pre arranged with the auctioneer, which would be highly doubtful occurred.
