| indeeppigfarmer - 5/6/2024 19:57 One factor affecting the national yield is that as demand grows, and production has moved outside of the traditional corn belt, many areas have started growing corn because economically it is viable, but yield wise, may never achieve corn belt type yields. The national average may continue to be stagnant because it is being diluted with lower yield potential acres. It’s just math. On a localized basis, I would bet that there are counties that the yield trend line has increased at a faster rate than the long term trend.

Good farmland is getting paved over. The acres that are coming into production to replace them are of lesser quality.
If you compare the same acres, yields are steadily trending up. |
