Before we get to excited- what will it cost an eplant to get compliant. How many will or can afford to get there and how long will that take. Months or years. Then on farmers side- How many farmers are willing to do this. We personally no-till and at times add nitrogen stabilizer to anydrous in the fall but cover crops-not yet. From those that have in the past it is my understanding that cover crop and young corn plants don’t get along well. Beans are different story. However last year with the dry spring I hear of some yield drag on the cover crop fields. So by the time you add expense of cover crops, nitrogen stabilizers, extra need for drill or means to plant cover crop and BOOKWORK is the extra $100/ acre worth it. I maybe wrong but I personally have hard time seeing it work all hand in hand.
