It is difficult to explain the validity of a meta analysis study when the summary is the only part that can be accessed through your links.

One can assume it is a valid study. It does raise issues that can inspire new studies to evaluate using new criteria in their studies. But these meta analysis studies are looking at 10-15 year old trials.

It can be an excellent guide for making parameters for new trials.

For a more recent analysis of more current and extensive trials the results made new recommendations to expand the parameters. New recommendations for statins expand their recommended use

In reference to the original poster, I was under the assumption that the friend had high cholesterol, which has a direct correlation to CVD. If the blood work showed up in a normal range, it would be highly unlikely that anything would be prescribed
