West Tennessee | We had this issue with the combine after sitting last year but it finally started one day and never failed to start all fall. Now it has sat mostly all winter and will crank over but not start. Very much appears to be a fuel issue. If we let the fuel pump run (key on only) for several 1 minute intervals before cranking it will crank. But when it cranks will run on a couple cylinders for a few seconds before running normally. Sometimes you can run the fuel pump several minutes and it still won't start. Almost like the fuel pressure is bleeding off somehow but where? We did replace the fuel pump because it sounded weak but that did not change anything. Now the fuel pump sounds fine but never seems to build up any pressure so that it "bogs down" so to speak. There has to be something we are missing. New JD fuel filters were installed last fall. I'm going to change them again but this did not fix the problem last year. It just finally started one day and then started fine all fall. Is there a check valve somewhere besides the pump and filters? We have taken the lines off below the tank and blown them out this week although it seems the problem is beyond those. | |
