Yes, some extremely tough years back then Dan. As the calendar flips from year to year, there is an increasingly smaller percentage of currently active farmers who have the memory of those years. There are many here who were kids growing up then, but that’s not the same. It’s my belief that as we get to the time period when most here didn’t experience that decade, the odds increase that a similar scenario will be seen again.
Made me think back---
I think the worst part was feeling totally helpless
Any decision made was just wrong
It was years long
Remember my mother asking "I'm not going to loose my house am I?"
Those thoughts are best left in the background of my mind only to come out occasionally
