Eastern NE KS | While I had a once in a lifetime hairless calf, my neighbor received a positive surprise.
He just turned bulls into his yearling heifers yesterday and stopped to see if all is well today. One heifer was off by herself so he hopped on his ATV for a looksee. This 12 1/2 month old is now a cow with a nice calf at side. Calf was cleaned up and cow was nursed out from her modest but developed/developing udder. The young mother was bred as a 3.5 month old calf.
I laughed with my friend. How is a rancher supposed to prevent this when he needs his cows bred? (** Rhetorical or whatever)
