Farmington, Mo
Would definitely use the drone vs the 3 point for the reasons you stated.

Have done it two years now with our drone. Worked pretty good last year…learned some things about how to operate the rig better in certain field conditions vs a ground rig to get better coverage.

We use 2 gallons per acre and full rate of Miravis Ace. Also add some insecticide too.

What model drone? Ours is a DJI T40
We ran a 24-25’ swath at 9-10’ altitude above the crop. Flight speed is where you have to use some finesse…smooth fields, I crank it up to 32.8 feet per second.

However, if the field has some ups and downs or some uneven grade where the drone has to go up or down while running the route, the flight speed needs to be slowed down to the mid or low 20’s for feet/sec to give it time to attempt to maintain altitude…had some situations where it would get too low and emergency stop…not a big deal other that the aggravation of it happening.

Wheat quality last year was best ever so I’m sure the efficacy of the application is high. Wouldn’t think twice about the drone in your situation…out of curiosity, what does he charge per acre? $15/acre or $375/hr is what’s going around here.
