That same exact situation happened to the wife of my friend that owns a Ford dealership.

  I also was walking to my pickup one time in a parking lot and hit the open remote a little bit away from it and when I got there a guy just ahead of me was going to get in it.  His pickup was a couple parking spots down the row.   I actually knew the guy. We both had a laugh about that.  I bet it happens more then you think with a lot of vehicles that look the same and I doubt they are all seniors.
