If calves are next to it from birth after the first day or 2 I have a 2 wire electric fence with a good hot fencer behind it that holds them, not sure I would want to try it next to a road though. Come to think of it I guess I did have them next to a state highway behind a hot 2 wire fence one year when spring did not come till the middle of May.
