The core of monetary theory is who makes currency come into existence. I see MMT as explaining how we do that. The Austrian economic theory is the counterpart to MMT, and the Austrian theory is, so far I as have learned it, illogical. It does not account for currency coming into existence which has to have a large influence in any economy which depends on said currency.
