The only people who push the theory are those who don't have the ability to attempt to model the probabilities of outcomes. There is a reason no leading economists advocate it.

It is true that the US can print money to service it's own debt. It would be catastrophic to do so as a policy and economists and lay people alike understand this. Doesn't stop a few fringe extremists from pushing it though.
