Timing depends on when I get corn and beans combined. Some years it's October 1st but often later. Like to have it in by October 15th. Have custom seeded some for a neighbor up until November 15th. That was slower to grow in the spring but made it through the winter. I like to turn them out at about 6" tall as long as decent Temps in the forecast. If you turn them out at 6" and it gets down in the 20's at night then they might clip it off too short. 6" is a good starting point if actively growing.
