Near-north Ontario, French River | FWIW.. here , the funeral homes handle most donations. The family chooses any number of charities they would like to support in memory of their loved ones. The funeral home then posts the details along with the obituary. Folks can then either leave a cheque at the viewing or donate to the charities via the funeral homes website. Either way the homes provide a list ( not sure if they provide $ values) of those who donate. Is customary for the family to then send thank you notes at a later date based on the info provided by the home. Some send thank yous, others dont.. personal choice. |
