In my opinion, the 8100 is a much better unit than the 8500. I worked on Willmar's for years and the 8500 has a horrible drive train. It uses dual hydro's that never seem to stay synchronized so they end up fighting each other, planetary's can't handle the increased torque of the larger wheel motors, and it is underpowered for it's weight. It does go down the road faster than the 8100, that's about the only good thing when comparing the two. I will also tell you to stay away from the 8600. It's just an electrical demon. Agco finally got it just about right with the 8650, but it died a very fast death due to the rogator line being WAY more popular. Biggest problem now is trying to find a tech that knows how to troubleshoot machines that have been out of production for awhile now. Good Luck!
