S.E. Kansas | We have a pasture that is large enough the pen that is at the far end of the pasture does not work well for catching a sick cow or a calving issue because it can be over 1/2 a mile walk for the cow.
This pasture has a divider fence in the middle of it shown on the picture I attached. However the gate to get between sides is in the middle area of the fence where I circled on the map. Reason for that location is because its on the top of a rigid.
We have always tried to put pens in the corners to help funnel cattle into the pens. So this pen is going to be little different in that aspect. We have to leave it open enough to drive through the pen with self propelled sprayers & silage wagons. We will not be doctoring cattle out of this pen, it will only be for catching cows or pulling calves. The pasture holds 120+ pair so the pen has to be fair sized as well.
Looking for some ideas if anyone has ran into this type of a lay out before with putting a pen on a divider fence in the middle of the fence.
