Is your grass fertilized? That would increase risk. Just a little clover pretty much will prevent grass tetany. You don't want to turn out hungry, so hay first is a good idea. I would probably turn them out, and switch to high mag minerals. Might want to put something in the minerals like soy or cotton seed mill to increase consumption. Good luck.
