No ones ever poured a pad and afterwards said "I wish we hadnt poured it that thick"

Id go with 8" 



Remember asking about the concrete in a new Heavy equipment shop many many years ago - - - was surprised to hear 4" thick concrete.

He also talked about excellent reinforcing AND internal (inside the concrete) fibers.

That was for cats weighing up to some 50 ton.

(Concrete is all about site prep - - - - 8" thick with a not great base is going to break up fast enough. 5" thick with a well compacted base might outlast your grandson!)
