northeastern Ohio | The Hercules unloader had a slide gate option for corn. A piece of flat stock with holes in it was below that hole that connected to a plate in the center of the silo. There was a special punch that was inserted into the hole to make contact with the flat stock holes. Pushing the punch one direction would close the plate to throttle the flow of corn into the conveyor.
I just sent all my Hercules unloaders to the scrap yard a few weeks ago. I think I got about $100 each. Parts are hard to get for them.
The Goliath model 70 replaced the Hercules. It has a 2 speed transmission and the arm ratchet is reversible.
The Goliath model 74 replaced the model 70. The arm ratchet uses spring loaded pawls. I actually prefer the ratchet on the model 70.
The Alliance replaced the model 74. It incorporated an oiler system for oiling the chains. Also has a linear actuator to control the ratchet by using a timer to advance it.
I just rebuilt a couple unloaders this spring. Here are the pics:
